Hunting this area since 1978 our 25 square miles surrounding our lodge is big bear heaven. Hunting in the Superior National Forest we boast one of the highest bear densities in the state.
Arrowhead Wilderness Outfitters Lodge is located in Northeastern Minnesota near Lake Superior. Minnesota boasts one of the highest Black Bear Populations in the U.S. Our Bear Hunting is done over bait and we guarantee an active bait for EVERYONE. Comfortable and secure stands are placed for relatively close shots. All hunters are escorted to and from your stands. Recovery, Field Dressing, Skinning and Meat Care is all included as part of your stay. We have a Bear Hunting Lodge that we hunt a 25 square mile radius around. Arrowhead Wilderness Outfitters has been hunting this area since 1978 and over 80% of our hunters will have a good opportunity to take a Bear. Much of the Hunting is done from ATVs and you are welcome to bring your own. Paige & Ryan along with their guides and staff will ensure you have a quality hunt and guarantee you a comfortable stay at Arrowhead Wilderness Lodge.
Bear Hunting In Minnesota is done within the Superior National Forest and the Finland State Forest in a 25 square mile area. Bear densities here are very high and some of the best in the state with good numbers of large bears present. Your bear hunting opportunities include archery, rifle, muzzle loader and handgun. We provide pre-baited sites for your success. Minnesota conducts a lottery for their bear tags and our area has a very high draw rate. Contact us for assistance when applying for your Bear Hunting Minnesota tags. Arrowhead Wilderness Outfitters also caters to your guest or guests on your hunt as well. You will have good opportunities for sightseeing with many tourist attractions within a reasonable drive. The area is also known for its outstanding Grouse hunting. Contact us for more details and availability. Bear licenses are issued through a lottery. Online applications are due in April. Preference points are issued to unsuccessful applicants.
Learn the proper and most successful methods for baiting Black Bears. During your Black Bear Baiting School you will work with guides and prepare black bear bait sites and trail camera positioning for the best photos. You will place bait daily and track your success. Stand placement is another critical part of successful bear baiting and we go into great detail for site preparation. All participants will be riding ATVs and need to be physically able to walk to baiting sites each day. You may bring your own ATV but you will need prior approval first. Bear viewing is always an option but is dependent on daylight activity by the bears. Bear baiting School is the last two weeks of August and space is limited so schedule early. Lodging and meals are included with your class and fishing may be added as an option.
By the end of your stay you will have a good understanding of how to choose and prepare bait sites, stand placement, use of trail cameras and a good knowledge of black bears and their habits. You will be exposed to the “Big Woods” environment and have a chance to see bears, wolves, moose, white tail deer, lynx, bobcat, marten, fischer, ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and a variety of other wildlife.
